• Lubricant Additive 1655 N is a brown viscous liquid and is completely soluble in all
• polyalkylene glycols. The active ingredient content is about 70 %. The content of heavy
• metals such as zinc, lead, cadmium and mercury is less than 1 mg/kg (ppm). The chlorine
• and sulphur content is less than 50 mg/kg (ppm).

Lubricant Additive 1655 N is typically used in concentrations of 4 – 10 % for formulating
lubricants based on polyalkylene glycols like Polyglykol D21-types. These lubricants are
especially suitable for gear oils exposed to high thermal stress. Polyglykols are base oils
with outstanding lubrication and load carrying properties. Exposure to heat and air
causes degradation of the polymer and leads to a loss in viscosity and overall
performance.
The thermo-oxidative properties can be significantly improved by use of Lubricant
Additive 1655 N. Test results which demonstrate this effect are listed on page 3.
In combination with polyalkylene glycols Lubricant Additive 1655 N shows excellent
lubricity and performance under extreme pressure and reduces wear considerably.
Results for the lubrication test on a Reichert Friction Tester and the permanent wear test
with the Four Ball Tester (VKA, DIN 51350) are given below.
Lubricant Additive 1655 N normally does not cause foaming and has no negative impact
on air release when combined with low viscous Polyglykol grades. In case foaming should
occur, addition of 10-25 ppm of a suitable defoamer based on an organomodified silicone
is recommended.
Such formulations can be made by simply combining and homogenizing the components
at room temperature. The Lubricant Additive 1655 N must be heated (e.g. 70°C) prior to
addition and completely dissolved.

When stored in a cold, dry place in a closed container Lubricant Additive 1655 N can be
kept for at least two years.
Maximum storage time is 2 years. Any precipitate formed from temperature variations
can be redissolved by heating to about 90 °C.
