n-Butyl Acetate

n-Butyl acetate, also known as butyl ethanoate, is an organic compound commonly used as a solvent in the production of lacquers and other products. It is a colorless flammable liquid. Butyl acetate is found in many types of fruit, where along with other chemicals it imparts characteristic flavors and has a sweet smell of banana or apple.

n-Butyl acetate may also be used in combination lacquers.
It can be employed e.g. for the isocyanate component in catalysed lacquers.
It is used as a synthetic fruit flavoring in foods such as candy, ice cream, cheeses, and baked goods.
Because of its pleasant odor n-Butyl acetate may be used in the manufacture of essences, perfumes, stain removers and glazed paper.
