Polyvinyl butyral. Acts as a binder. Also acts as a co-binder for powder coatings.
Details
PVB
Polyvinyl Butyral
- better plasticizing properties
- very good adhesion properties
- very good adhesion to substrates like polyolefins, metals, cellulose acetate, polyester, cellophane, polyamide, and polystyrene films
- Printing inks exhibit low solvent retention
- good flow
- good resistance to water
adhesion promotion/ corrosion protection primers
shop primers
wash primers
stoving enamels
varnishes and lacquers for different substrates
strippable packaging coatings
automotive refinishing coatings
can coatings
heat-sealable lacquers
radiator primers/topcoats
wood sealing varnishes
plastic surface finishes/nitrocellulose lacquers
gear paints/paper varnishes
road marking paints
coil coatings
zinc-rich primers
pigment preparations
thermo-transfer inks
candle coatings
flexographic as well as gravure printing inks
The adhesive strength of foil lacquers can be improved by stoving at temperatures of up to 140 °C.
If necessary, gloss and flexibility can be improved by addition of plasticizers.
